Lausanne: More of Swiss Alps

With drizzle and occasional rains, this is the best I could get of the Alps. Even then the snow is beckoning.

EPFL: A University by the Alps

École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) is a major university in Switzerland. Its beauty is enhanced further with its proximity to the Swiss Alps. The images are taken on a rainy day, even then the the snow capped mountains look attractive.

I could not see Lake Lausanne in day light. These snaps are taken in the evening, on the landing to the lake.

St-François Church in Lausanne

This is the St-François Church in Lausanne taken from the Lausanne Cathedral at night. From a distance it looks very photogenic. The sharp turrets in gray, are set off against the dark back ground. The church was built way back in 1272, and had been sacked in 1476 as a result of reformation. It was abandoned by the Franciscans in 1536. The upheavals are now gone and today in the night sky it looks like a star.

Lausanne Cathedral at Night

Sitting on a high rise hillock, Lausanne Cathedral gives the feel of a shrine when one climbs up to it.

Lausanne Cathedral: Turrets

The pointed turret at the entrance of Cathédrale Notre-Dame juts elegantly into the night sky. Some restoration work is now going on in the cathedral.
